Even if it won't work, I'd say we've got some good odds that someone's going to try again anyway, especially if the pattern holds up when it comes to them being pushed into it somehow. All, "nooo, it's theoretically not their fault, don't do it," or whatever.

Reacting and caring about them is normal and expected, but you can do that and not do what they ask or offer.

Who else would try who hasn't already? We can talk them down again. This time, though... even if they were pushed into it by something we don't know... we'll have to decide what we think is the best way to go forward.
