I fully believe someone in a position of authority is willing and ready to kill. I just thought for someone like Jing Yuan... for how he carries himself, it'd be less haphazard.

I think pretty much anyone is capable of killing or cruelty, if you give them a reason to be. So yeah, it's the way he went about it that's weird.

Survival and revival are strong reasons, but... patience seemed to be his highest virtue.

How would killing Charlie have helped with getting revived? It's not like there's a limit to the number of people who get to pass the trial.

If redemption is the key.... that can mean something different to anyone. Even if they told us it was to become better... what makes you better? No one knows the judging criteria for sure. Being kind and good.... what is kind, and what is good?

It feels like there were more sensible targets than Charlie, in that case...

Maybe so, but that's something only Jing Yuan can answer. All I can do is throw theories at a wall... maybe I'm wrong, and maybe I want to be wrong.
