[ his grief makes her lightness crack, just a little. there is a fragility to her under everything, soft and tender and always wishing to be with the people she loves.

it's an always she does not have, despite her longevity. ]

he knows that there is no happy ending waiting for him. that the irony is, should he get everything he's fighting for, the end result he'll have achieved is a world that likely doesn't need him any longer. he's already had the experience to tell him that he couldn't meaningfully get attached to civilian life again, even after fifteen years, and so all that will be left of him this time is a blade without a purpose.

and yet, he'll continue to walk down this path, because there are things more important to him.]

[ for as much as elysia loves, the way she chooses to love does not always end in perfect and happy solutions for herself or the people she loves, but she always tries to seek the best choice she can possibly make.

she does not regret any of her choices, and she is at peace and content with what she will set out to do. it will be enough for her because loving has always been enough for her. ]

[it's as elysia said. if they can't have happiness, then they can at least aim for that much.]

[ there's no other option in her mind. she shifts and scoots closer to uruha to slowly loop her arms around him in a hug. it's her last chance to hold onto him like this, and while there is so much warmth in her affection, there is a small fluttery feeling of sadness. ]

[he lifts his arms to hug her back, his emotions similar. warm, but there's an undercurrent of sorrow to it. bittersweet.]

[ she won't cry, but her emotions do feel like they could. she truly loves uruha so much, and she could never say it enough even if she was annoying about it.

it's going to hard for her to let go. ]

[he can be nice for this moment.]

[ don't make her love you more. she is happy to hear those words from him. there's no way she wouldn't be. ]

I'm grateful to have met you and come to know you. I'm glad that I could love you.

[ she laughs softly, almost too quiet. ]

Believe it or not, I'm trying to keep some of it in.

[ she leans back to pull on his cheek gently. ]

Maybe that's true, and maybe you're trying to be so funny right now.
