A practice of not having regrets? Perhaps I ought to take after you in that way, then... Though I do think I have few.
[There's a curious little look as she starts to undo his braid, but he will allow this to happen! He just keeps looking at her with such soft fondness, ignoring these fuckin mirrors even though they should be leaving.]
[ it's better to not have friends at that point. ]
Regrets are natural. It's not like we can always choose what's best for us in the moment. I don't think I always make good decisions, but I do think it's better for me if I don't always hold myself back.
[ for now, it just seems like she wants to comb her fingers through his hair. they really could just leave.
he could walk them both out like he did with his group coming back from cyoa today. ]
Even if someday you come to regret me, I won't regret you.
But wah!!!! He is so enamored with his very true and very real lady love Elysia, and he easily falls into the kiss with a full heart. This very true love's kiss. There's a little laugh, airy and delighted, when they part, and he is faintly flustered.]
You're really going to spoil me if you aren't careful, my dear...
[me like i could ruin this cuteness with a memory i suppose. but she can have this one instead.]
I would never be careful about that. I'll spoil you rotten....
[ she trails off as she watches the new memory that plays across the mirrors.
in contrast to the memory she saw earlier this week from him, this is sweeter in spades. it leaves a small ache in her chest for how much he's had to go through at such a young age, how much of a responsibility he's had to lift that one single, 'you did well' seemed to release a dam.
she presses a kiss to his forehead. ]
I'm glad she was able to release a weight for you. You always do work so hard, Lucas.
[ most of the time, in good ways. some other times.... she worries. it's a worry. ]
[SPOILED ROTTEN. He does not deserve such kindness...
But he will still accept the kiss to his forehead even if he thinks he should maybe be spoiled a tiny bit less. The memory is sweeter and softer, though Lucas just looks at the mirrors with a sort of discontent confusion before looking back toward Elysia with a little bit of apology. It's very sweet, hearing that he works hard. Very kind. But all the same...]
...I appreciate the sentiment, but I'm afraid this isn't a memory of mine.
[ there's a bit of confusion and more than a bit of surprise from elysia when she sees his discontent confusion. there have been memory shenanigans here, but she didn't think.... ]
Maybe so... [He does not seem to know, and glances toward the mirrors without recognition, but doesn't let his gaze linger overly-long before he's turning his attention back in full to Elysia.]
Someone has suggested that it might be similar to the strange happenings last week, where people suddenly recalled different things entirely? I had assumed it might be something like that, anyway.
...Strange? Discomforting, especially if this isn't working the way the angels believe it should...
[He does not like it! But it's fine. There's a little flicker of a smile at the question.]
I could easily see myself at that time having such a reaction to kindness like that. I was quite overwhelmed... [TO SAY THE LEAST.] Fortunately, I still managed to find some kindness, even if not this exact situation.
[ elysia doesn't mind her memories being on display under the right circumstances, but once she figured out what was going to happen, she's made her peace with it. ]
Is that so? Will you tell me a little more? I want to know the story of the you that's in front of me most of all.
[ even if she's sure she could love him in every timeline. ]
[Sometimes you just see an unavoidable thing coming and you can only shoganai about it, it's true.]
So I've heard, anyway... [But who knows! He is very warm in this moment, because worse memories weren't spilled everywhere even if he feels sure that he would still have Elysia's love, and he feels so fortunate for that. There's a light and gentle laugh, and he gives her an equally gentle lil squeeze.]
Judging by everything, this must have taken place when I was fourteen or so. That was around the time I met the doctor that took Nadia into the hospital he founded. He was one of the kindest men I knew.
I did, yes. I still do. He gave us everything we could have needed to move forward.
[STOP NOT HIS DOCTOR. It doesn't need to be emotionshare week to tell that he is so fond of this man, though. THAT'S HIS SAVIOR!]
After? Nadia was able to stay in the hospital free of charge and I was able to live there for a while, as well. When I had the means to move into my own accommodations, his successor helped me do so.
[Sometimes you see many successors come and go because even in Arpechele a doctor probably isn't a teenager... for the most part...]
Isn't it just? He always tried to do that where he could, though obviously he had to charge a bit here and there to keep the hospital open and running...
They are both so loving in this hell. Though he'll finally move down the hall of mirrors, hand still in hers.]
That hospital provides all of Nadia's care without charge in accordance to the founder's wishes, so I've been able to live even on a teacher's salary without any worries.
[Maybe! Maybe... His smile becomes a little softer at that, though, and there's something a bit sad to it.]
It's still unknown, unfortunately... But the staff works so hard in trying to find one, and they're able to keep her in stable condition in the meantime. It's much, much better than the way things were before.
They can and they will. [He says it confidently! There's a warmth in his tone that speaks to the great depth of love he feels toward his perfect sweet baby sister.]
Though I do wish she would be well again quickly, that she has support and so many people working to better her health warms my heart.

You seem to me like the sort of person who regrets very little in your life.
[He says it fondly, gently brushing some hair from her face.]
no subject
I try to make it a habit. Or a practice? Life is better that way.
[ she starts slowly undoing his braid. ]
You'll be one of them, too.
[ something she won't regret. ]

You'd rather regret the things that you did do than then things you didn't - something like that, maybe?
[But he just looks at her with such adoration! Just big ol' eyes full of so many feelings.]
There's no way that I could ever come to regret you...
no subject
Yeah, you got it. At least I don't have to stay wondering. I'd prefer to do something over thinking about it.
Like this.
[ she looks into his big ol' eyes full of so many feelings before kissing him again. ]

What do you think of that memory, Lucas? It looks like it's a moment that could have touched you.
